Although high lift color is similar to permanent hair dye, it may contain more ammonia and the developer is usually a 40-vol.
With such a formula, the hair color lifts more color from your hair to help lighten it, then it tones the hair at the same time.
When To Use High Lift Tint and Bleach
If high lift color was invented as an alternative to bleach, you might be thinking that the use of both products is interchangeable.
Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
There are instances when it is still best to use bleach.
Although high lift color is capable of lightening the hair, it is only capable of doing it to a lesser degree. It can lighten the hair up to about 5 shades lighter.
High lift color is best used on virgin hair shaded dark blond or light brown in color. If you use a high lift color blond hair dye with the 30 vol developer, it would be capable of lightening the hair from a dark blond to a light or medium blonde.

Well, most professionals will tell you not to use the high lift color on the bleached hair.
If you really wanted to, you could use the high lift color only on the regrowth area of your hair.
Bleached hair is already brittle and dry. It is prone to damage, especially if you decide to use a high-lift color in it.
That’s just overprocessing your hair.
You may regret doing that decision because your hair might fall off and break. If you want to further lighten the color, you could use bleach again on bleached hair to achieve the lightness you want.
Just remember to always check the condition of your chair before you go for another round of bleaching or another round of high lift color on non-bleached hair.
Apart from potentially damaging the hair, it could also change the color of your hair. That’s because the high lift color usually contains toners so that hair can be toned at the same time.
In some cases when the bleached hair isn’t really that brassy, you don’t really need the toner in the high lift color. In that case, it could lead you to have blue or purple hues in your hair.

The first thing you have to do is to let your hair rest first. If you immediately try to remedy your hot roots, they can be too fragile that it gets too damaged. It would be best to let it rest for a day or two.
After that, you’ll need to select the color of a high-lift tint to use. Make sure that the shade you choose is darker than the previously-used hair color. It should be in the same color family as the previously used, but just darker in shade.Â
