Have you caught the vitamin C Serum bug? It is one of the most raved-about skincare products today. But did you know that it isn’t that new? In fact, the commercial production of a topical ascorbic acid formulation was started in 1991 by the company Cellex-C

Cellex-C has its own vitamin C serum known as Cellex-C Advanced-C Serum. It is formulated through the combined proprietary technology they invented with the original patented complex. This is what sets their vitamin C products apart from the others.

We’re here today to take a look at their Advance-C serum and determine whether it’s worth the price or if it’s just like other vitamin C serums. In this Cellex-C Advanced-C Serum Review, we’ll discuss various aspects of this product in detail to help you decide whether it’s the right serum for your skin.

The Details

The Packaging

Cellex-C Advanced-C Serum

The packaging doesn’t really matter as long as the product works. But luxurious packaging can make a product feel extra-elegant. The Advanced-C serum takes on a simplistic route with the packaging. The serum is in an amber bottle with a glass dropper cap with a clear and simple label.

Compared to, say, the L’Occitane Divine Youth Oil we reviewed, it’s not as elegant.

Simple as it may seem, that amber box and glass dropper does have a function. Water-based vitamin C is light sensitive. An amber-hued bottle can better protect the serum.

When storing your vitamin C serum, make sure you keep it in a cool and dark place to prevent it from oxidizing.

Given the cost of the Advanced-C Serum, it can be wise to store it in the fridge so that it is protected as much as possible. Some reviewers advise taking a portion of the serum and placing it in another amber bottle with a dropper. This will be the serum that would be used and the rest is stored in the fridge.

This preservation method can prevent the serum from being exposed to light and air, which can oxidize it.

The serum is clear and lightly golden in color but it will darken when oxidized. When it is oxidized, it can stain your skin because vitamin C degrades into erythrulose, which is used in self-tanners. This tan color can last for a week.

The Formula

Cellex-C C Serum with Dropper

The Advanced-C Serum contains both free and hydrolyzed ascorbic acid to make it more effective at making the skin look younger. It is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from free radicals.

This helps prevent premature aging of the skin.

The ascorbic acid also helps deal with wrinkles or fine lines by stimulating the skin to produce collagen. Collagen is the magic that makes skin more youthful and is the target of many treatments including the Tria Age-Defying Laser reviewed here.

This collagen production makes the skin more elastic. It may also help brighten the skin by reducing the production of melanin.

Many customers have been using this serum for years. This army of reviewers vouches for the effectiveness of the Advanced-C Serum when it comes to anti-aging, brightening, and glowing skin.

One reviewer noticed a difference when she stopped using the product.

The key to achieving results is to use it regularly and give it time.

The collagen-stimulating function of ascorbic acid in the Advanced-C serum is enhanced with the included collagen protectors in the formula. Ergothioneine and resveratrol both act as collagen protectors and act as antioxidants.

Fragrance-Free Product

If you’re sensitive about the scent of the skincare products you apply to your face, you’ll be pleased to know that the Advanced-C serum doesn’t contain any fragrance. You won’t smell anything when you apply it on your face.

However, a customer said that the scent reminded her of a self-tanner like Tan Physics. This may occur when the serum has already oxidized then applied to the skin.

Suitable For Most Skin Types

Aging skin is the main target of this Advanced-C serum. But it can also work well with other skin types and conditions. If you need more elastic skin or simply protection from free radicals, you can use this serum.

Although vitamin C serums are usually safe, there may be some people who can be allergic to it. It is best to test the serum on your arm first if you think you have an allergy to it.

You may find it pairs quite well with hyaluronic acid serums.

Lightweight and Oil-Free

Many reviewers also love the Advanced-C serum because it is comfortable to apply on the face. It’s a water-based formula so it won’t feel oily. Some customers complain that it’s a bit watery or runny, and the serum really is pretty watery. But this consistency helps the solution to be easily absorbed by the skin.

Price and Value

This one is a high-priced vitamin C serum. No doubt about it, this is a luxury product and. But sometimes luxury is just what is needed. The Advanced-C Serum is extremely popular, even with its high price point, and most users find that the serum is absolutely worth the cost.

The formulation is patented and can’t be imitated. And it works.

You just have to try it if you can afford it. If you can’t afford it, there are several cheaper vitamin C serums on the market that accomplish some of the same things.

How To Use The Cellex-C Advanced-C Serum

Cellex-C C Serum Directions

The Advanced-C serum is applied to the face after cleansing and toning it. You can apply it once a day during the morning or at night. But many users suggest that it’s best to reserve it for night time use.

The vitamin C provides the most help to skin that has already been exposed to UV light.

You only need 4-5 drops of the Advanced-C serum, which is why this bottle can certainly last for a few months. Cellex-C suggests using the fingertips to smooth it all over the face, but be sure to avoid the eye area.

You may want to apply a facial toner to get things started. An optional step is to apply the Cellex-C Skin Hydration Complex, which is included in Cellex-C’s starter kit. Then apply a moisturizer after 5 minutes to finish your skincare routine.

The Bottom Line

The Cellex-C Advanced-C Serum is a unique product that is made of free and hydrolized ascorbic acid plus collagen protectors. This combination improves the collagen-boosting property of the serum while protecting the skin from free radicals.

Although the Advanced-C Serum works well with continued use, the price is high on this one. It is truly a luxury item at a luxury price point. Don’t skip your mortgage payment to buy this stuff! But if you have the means, the Advanced C Serum is a powerful skin care treatment.

It is easy to apply and extremely effective. That is what matters most. Also, you only need a few drops during each use, so you’ll be using this product for months. Just store it properly to prevent it from oxidizing too quickly.
