The Ordinary Skincare Routine Sets

The Ordinary Daily Set

We’ve all heard about those Korean skincare routines that involve a whole lot of steps. If you’re not into those or if you are just starting to create your skincare routine, you will definitely love the simplicity of this routine.

Any skin care routine starts with cleansing and usually ends with a moisturizing cream. Some are even content with a cleanser and a cream combo for their skincare routine.

You can certainly do that! But let’s boost that routine a little bit by adding a serum in between. The Ordinary sells this 3-piece set called ”The Daily Set” .

It includes the squalene cleanser , Hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 , and the No products found.. These are all available for individual purchases as well.

This skincare set is great for beginners and is good for all skin types. You have a cleanser that effectively removes dirt and makeup while moisturizing the skin.

The serum included boosts that moisture retention on the skin. Then, the moisturizing cream seals the products in while boosting hydration.

It is a non-greasy formula too.

The Ordinary also combined their best selling product to create the No products found.. The set includes the squalene cleanser, salicylic acid masque , Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum , and the moisturizing cream.

The addition of the salicylic acid masque helps target textured skin and helps remove skin congestion. Overall, it improves skin tone and is a great help in reducing signs of aging.

The Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% on the other hand further helps with minimizing the pores and regulating the sebum production.

The set is balanced as it moisturizes the skin but also prevents too much sebum production.

Make Your Own The Ordinary Skincare Routine

The Ordinary Cleanser

The sets that The Ordinary offers is a great way to start off your skincare journey. However, there are still other skincare products that you can explore and use to better suit your skin.

The key to creating your skincare routine is to know your skin type. You can start with the basic sets then just add other products to help target the skin issues you wish to improve.

However, there are a few things to remember when adding more products to your skincare routine. They are as follows:

  • The first step is to always cleanse your face.
  • Take note of product compatibility. Some products like those with niacinamide shouldn’t be used together with those with Vitamin C.
  • Use sunscreen in your morning routine to prevent sun damage.
  • Use retinoids at night.
  • It is okay to use the same products for your morning and night skincare routine or you can vary them as well.
  • Although you can use multiple serums in your skincare routine, The Ordinary suggests using a maximum of 3 per routine. If you want to use the others, alternate the serums in days.
  • Pat the serum on your face and make sure it is absorbed before moving on to the next.
  • You can end the routine with Natural Moisturizing Factors, oil-based products, or suspension-based products.

Layering The Ordinary Products

When you want to use multiple products to target multiple skin concerns, The Ordinary recommends sequencing them according to their base solutions. By doing so, products can better penetrate the skin.

However, like other rules, none is set in stone and there can be exceptions. Their products can be classified into 5 different solutions namely: water, anhydrous, oil, emulsion, and suspension. The layering should also more or less follow that order.

The Ordinary Skincare Routine Examples

The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics

Different people have different types of skin. We also have a variety of skin concerns that we want to focus on. The great thing about The Ordinary products is the simplicity and focus of the products so you can better combine them in your routine.

However, we also understand that it can be daunting to pick each and every product to include in your skincare routine. That is why we have created some examples for different skin types.

These are just examples, feel free to add or remove other products depending on what you want to focus on.

For Sensitive Skin

The Ordinary products are known for potency because they skip on fillers. Those with sensitive skin should be very careful with the products used or else risk redness and irritation.

For those with sensitive skin, the simplest routine would be to use the Squalene Cleanser and Natural Moisturizing factors both for day and night use. Add the Mineral UV Filters  for extra protection at day time. This is the base of most skincare routines.

For Dry Skin

When you think of dry skin, one thing that comes to mind is hyaluronic acid and The Ordinary has one that contains 2% HA and B5. This serum is great for moisturization and could be used between the cleanser and Moisturizing Factors.

Apart from that, you can also choose other hydrating serums like the following:

For Acne-Prone Skin

Those who have acne-prone skin can benefit from using the serums that help control the sebum production of the skin like the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%.

Apart from controlling the sebum production, you should also help efficiently remove the dead skin cells so that it doesn’t clog the pores. Gentle exfoliation also helps with acne scars.

For gentle exfoliation, you can use any of the following:

When using exfoliating products, make sure you use only one at a time. Don’t use multiple ones in the same routine or your skin could be irritated.

For Aging Skin

The Ordinary Peptide Serum

To help prevent the signs of aging on your skin, one of the serums you can add to your skincare routine in the morning or at night is the Buffet . This is a peptide serum with amino acids and hyaluronic acid to target various signs of aging.

Before you use the Buffet serum, you could also use the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning solution to effectively remove the dead skin cells. This helps in the better absorption of the Buffet serum.

During your nighttime routine, you can use retinol or retinoids to help with cell turnover. They also help with the production of elastin and collagen for more youthful-looking skin.

Conclusion

There are many different products from The Ordinary. They’re a solid, cruelty-free skin care company. You can absolutely create your skincare routine using their products alone. The simplest routine would be the cleanser and Moisturizing Factors.

In between the two, you can add other products depending on what your skin needs. It is very important to know what type of skin you have and what issues you want to focus on to properly select the right products.

Above are just a few examples of what you could use in case you have those types of skin conditions. Feel free to add or remove products.

Different people may have different reactions to the products so it is best to try them out and find one that works.

However, remember to limit serums to three per skincare routine.
