Does the DPL-IIa Wrinkle Reduction Panel Work?

dpl II Wrinkle Reduction Light Therapy Panel

The dpl-IIa Professional Light Therapy Panel for Wrinkle Reduction utilizes red light technology to reduce signs of aging, particularly on the face. With an array of three different colored LEDs emitting light in various wavelengths, this system can penetrate deep into the skin.

These wavelengths are chosen specifically to stimulate cellular regeneration and collagen production from within.

This results in glowing, plump, and youthful-looking skin.

Spectrum

This light therapy device uses a combination of wavelengths, specifically 880nm for infrared, 660nm for dark red, 630nm for red, and 530nm for amber.

These wavelengths are in the FAR-Infrared spectrum. This is the opposite end of the spectrum from the UV light that would be found in tanning beds or from the sun.

You can’t tweak which wavelengths of light to use or shut off certain wavelengths. They are all controlled by a single switch, and the whole system is controlled by a single on/off switch.

Using the DPL-IIa

It is possible to use this red light therapy device on other areas of the body aside from the face. Some have used it on their neck, chest, arms, and back. Like the face, the skin in the other areas of the body is also rejuvenated.

Many users find that with consistent and continuous use over 8+ weeks, younger-looking skin can be achieved by using this device. However, the degree of wrinkle reduction varies from one user to another.

Some notice fine lines reduced although deeper wrinkles are not completely removed.

It doesn’t work miracles. It’s not botox or a face lift.

That said, even if deeper wrinkles aren’t completely removed, many still choose to continue using it because their skin has significantly improved. Users find that their pores are smaller, their face seems tighter, and the area underneath the eyes are smoother.

For most, this is more than enough for them to continue using this beauty tool.

User Thoughts

Although some love this device, there are still others who aren’t so enthused about the Revive dpl IIa. One user used it for 6 weeks but didn’t notice any improvement at all. Of course, other users report seeing results in only 2 weeks.

Each person is different.

For some, results can be observed immediately while on others it may take longer. Additionally, some may also experience reddening of the skin while others do not.

What More Can the DPL-IIa Professional Light Therapy Panel Do?

Apart from using red light therapy to reverse signs of aging and to improve the appearance of the skin, others also used it for body pains. Due to its rejuvenating and healing effects, some have successfully used it for skeletal pain.

Some have even successfully used it on their pets.

If there are people who say it works for pain, there are also some who say otherwise like the customer that said she got it to treat the pain in her shoulder but it didn’t improve at all.

We should note that DPL does make a separate light therapy pad for pain relief that would likely be more effective for these users.

What’s Not To Love?

Although there are lots to love, there are also some things to dislike about it. For most users, the heat produced is bearable for the 3-17 minutes the panel is located near the skin. But some users don’t feel comfortable with it.

People who have heat-sensitive skin may find the Revive Light Therapy Panel quite uncomfortable. As mentioned above, this unit uses infrared light, so even though you may feel the heat, you’re not being exposed to UV light like a tanning bed.

Additionally, some users are not comfortable laying the panels directly on top of their face. Others find using the stand awkward because they can’t get the panels as close as they’d like to.

Furthermore, some also complain about getting tired of manually holding the panel near their face for the therapy session.

How Does It Look?

dpl II Wrinkle Reduction Light Therapy Panel

The dpl IIa-Professional Light Therapy Panel for Wrinkle Reduction looks a lot like a book or a notebook. The two panels with LED lights are connected by a hinge at the middle. You open it up and adjust the angle that works best for the area you are going to treat.

It’s compact so it’s easy to travel with.

The panels on the DPL-II are bigger than the usual handheld light therapy units like those offered by LightStim. One advantage of the larger panel is that it can treat the entire face in one treatment, as compared to the handhelds that only focus on a small area at a time.

How Does It Work?

The dpl II-Professional Light Therapy Panel for Wrinkle Reduction is very easy to use. Plug it in then switch it on and your all set. There’s only one switch and it turns all the lights on at the same time. The timer also starts automatically as soon as it is turned on.

First-time users of the product are recommended to first do a skin sensitivity test. Instructions for this is found in detail in the user guide, included in the package. This is to see whether your skin will react negatively to light therapy.

The unit automatically switches off after about 17 minutes. As the product claims, treatment can be as short as 3 minutes but the most effective duration will still vary from one person to another. Others suggest using it for 8 minutes while others use it for longer. You’ll have to experiment to find the right settings for your needs.

Note: Although some skincare products like peptides and hyaluronic acid work great in combination with light therapy, some skincare products do not. When in doubt, it’s best to just use the device on a clean and dry face. Then apply the other skincare products after the light therapy session.

Does It Last?

The LEDs used can generally last for 10,000 hours although some might be defective. If they won’t light up anymore, then a new purchase is due or you can use the provided 1-year warranty.

A 1-year warranty is always a help, but it is a bit on the short side, given the cost of this device.

Also note that some of the LEDs don’t appear to light up. They’re not broken! Rather the wavelengths of the light emitted by some of the bulbs are hard to perceive by sight.

Infrared lights cannot be seen by the naked eyes so some LEDs might seem to not be working although they are. In case they are not really working, the DPL II Professional is covered under a 1-year warranty and you’ll have to contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

The LEDs aren’t replaceable at all.

What’s Included In The Box?

Each purchase comes with the LED panels, a power cord, protective goggles, and a user manual. Most sellers on Amazon also include the metal stand to hold up the LED panels, but you may need to confirm that prior to purchasing.

Although there are protective goggles included in the package, its use is optional. It’s meant to protect the eyes from the bright light but many report that they can’t see clearly right after removing them. They need a minute or so to clear up their vision. Still, the manufacturer does recommend using them when treating face wrinkles.

The Bottom Line

With all that mentioned, it’s obvious that the dpl IIa-Professional Light Therapy Panel for Wrinkle Reduction and Acne works, but only if you consistently and continuously use it.

It does give the skin a glow, smoothens it, tightens it, and reduces fine lines. Most find the benefits significant, and lower-impact than cosmetic surgeries and other treatments.

On the other hand, it won’t magically make deep wrinkles and acne disappear. It can’t turn back time. But the DPL-II can help make the skin look years younger. And it can help prevent the skin from aging so fast. Not bad for some LED lights!
