Importance of Pedicure

Pedicures are a form of foot care performed to improve the health and appearance of the feet.

Pedicures can be done for personal hygiene, medical reasons, nail care, or as a luxury service. Here are some main benefits of pedicure treatment:

1. Prevents Infections

Pedicures can help prevent infections such as athlete’s foot and gross toenail fungus by removing dead skin or dirt hiding in the cracks of your toes or heels.

It also helps to prevent ingrown nails and calluses by keeping the skin soft.

2. Promotes Blood Circulation

A pedicure helps to make your feet look beautiful, of course! But it also promotes blood circulation in your feet by removing calluses that block blood flow to the rest of your body.

Pedicures also help with chronic conditions such as Raynaud’s syndrome or diabetes by improving circulation to extremities.

3. Reduction in Pain

Pedicures can reduce pain from corns and calluses by trimming them, so they don’t rub against shoes or socks. Moreover, regular foot care treatment prevents calluses’ growth, affecting your body’s weight distribution.

Sometimes corns and calluses are responsible for back pain as well. Hence, a pedicure helps you eliminate such pain.

How Long Does a Pedicure Take?

Pedicures are a great way to relax and pamper your feet. But how long does a pedicure take?

Different types of pedicure treatments vary in length. However, the average time for a basic pedicure service with spa standards is around 30 minutes.

Pedicures are a great way to relax and pamper your feet.

In contrast, a luxury pedicure can take approximately 90 minutes. Therefore, foot care treatment can take as little as 15 minutes or as long as an hour, depending on what services are being done during that time. Here are some common types of pedicure services and their duration:

1. Basic Pedicure (Approx. 30 Minutes)

A basic pedicure typically lasts for 30 minutes. The traditional type of pedicure is the most popular among all. It involves filing down calluses on the skin around your feet, trimming nails, and giving them a shape you like.

It also involves scrubbing your feet with a pumice stone or foot scrubber, removing dead skin cells, soaking them in warm water with some lotion or oil to soften up the skin, and then giving you a foot massage.

In some spa menus, the nail polish application is not included in the basic pedicure.

2. French Pedicure (Approx. 30-90 Minutes)

The French pedicure has been around for many years and became popular when Hollywood celebrities introduced it. The process of french pedicure can take between 30-90 minutes.

A French pedicure consists of painting the nails with light pink nail polish and then applying a long-lasting clear coat on top. Further, white stripes are added to the tips of the nails to give a classic look.

A French pedicure is also known as the “no-chip” manicure because it lasts much longer than other nail treatments.

3. Gel Pedicure (60 Minutes)

A gel pedicure is a type of pedicure in which your nails are soaked in a special solution, dried, and then coated with a gel polish instead of a regular nail lacquer. The gel is applied to the nail and then typically cured with ultraviolet or LED light (depending) so that it immediately dries.

This process hardens the gel on your nails and makes it convenient to decorate them. Hence, the duration of the gel pedicure is almost 60 mins.

4. Fish Pedicure (15-30 Minutes)

Fish pedicures are a new trend in the beauty industry. They involve placing the feet in a tub of warm water with tiny fish that will eat away dead skin and calluses.

The fish are able to do this because they have razor-sharp teeth that can remove layers of dead skin from the feet.

They bite and chew on the feet, leaving behind a fresh and clean foot.

The treatment starts with soaking the feet in warm water for about 10 minutes. Then, Garra Rufa fish are introduced to do their job. Many find the experience is ticklish and weird, but it does not hurt.

The entire fish pedicure takes up to 15-30 minutes on average.

5. Paraffin Wax Pedicure (60-90 Minutes)

A paraffin wax pedicure is a popular intensive foot care treatment that has been around for decades. It involves applying melted paraffin wax to the hands and feet, which are then covered with plastic wrap. The paraffin’s heat helps hydrate skin and remove dry patches of skin cells.

The next step is massaging the area for about 5 minutes with a rich cream or lotion, encouraging the blood flow.

Then the hardened wax is removed from your skin with an oil-based cleanser and water.

The entire process takes up to 60-90 minutes. Depending on your preference, you can do it yourself or get it done professionally at a salon or spa.

6. Luxury Pedicure (90 Minutes)

Some people may think that this treatment is too luxurious for them because it can be an expensive service. But if you have never had one before, you should try one to see how good it feels to be pampered for 90 minutes.

The Luxury pedicure is considered the queen of pedicures and often includes a variety of treatments such as paraffin wax, exfoliation, massage, and a heated towel.

It is a service that will make you feel like you are on vacation and leave your feet feeling refreshed and rejuvenated! But it can take a while.

Conclusion

Pedicures take around 30 min to perhaps around 90 min, depending on what you choose. Regardless of what you have done, the pedicure experience is incredibly relaxing, much more so than a manicure.

Even if you only go for a short pedicure, you’ll still feel so much better on the other side!
