How Long Will The Microshading Aftercare Last?

The microshading procedure involves using a needle to introduce pigment on the eyebrow area. Those dots or shading will help fill-in the sparse areas of your eyebrows. Your eyebrows could look fuller after such a procedure.

It’s sorta in the middle between an eyebrow tattoo and microblading.

The final result of the microshading doesn’t appear right after the procedure. You still need to take care of your eyebrows for about 14 days. Then you can expect that it will completely heal after about 6-8 weeks.

After the eyebrows are fully healed, all the open wounds will close up and there will be no more risk for infection or for the pigments to be pulled out.

When your eyebrows are fully healed is when you’ll actually see the final results of the microshading.

How Do You Take Care Of Microshading?

The microshading will result in the peeling of the eyebrows. That is an expected result as the eyebrows fully heal. When the wounds are still open, there are some things that you should carefully do.

Doing them properly will lessen the risk of developing an infection.

Here’s what you should be doing:

1. Carefully Wash Your Face

While washing your face, you should take your time so you can be careful not to put any substance or chemical on the eyebrows. It can be cleaned by using a damp cotton pad.

However, avoid using soap or facial wash. After cleaning it with a damp cotton pad, pat it dry with a clean tissue. Cleaning your eyebrows is part of the aftercare but it should be done carefully.

You can wash your face the same day you get the microshading but it is best to wait at least 3 hours after the procedure.

2. Use The Ointment Prescribed

As part of avoiding infection or any issues on your microshading, an ointment is likely to be prescribed. Apply this ointment as instructed after cleaning the eyebrows. Make sure that your hands are clean when applying them.

The ointment helps moisturize the eyebrows but they also contain other ingredients that could prevent infection. The ointment also helps when the eyebrows feel itchy.

3. Avoid Skincare Products Or Makeup On The Eyebrow

There is no need to apply any other skincare product to the microshading. In fact, you should avoid placing any skincare product on it. Due to the open wound, any skincare products could react negatively. The ointment should be the only product you apply to your microshading.

Similarly, you should also avoid applying makeup to the eyebrows. Give them time to heal first.

Your makeup products could cause an infection or irritation so it is best to avoid applying on the eyebrows.

4. Avoid Touching Your Eyebrows

If you want them to heal properly, avoid touching your eyebrows unnecessarily. You can just touch them when you need to clean them or apply the ointment. In that way, they don’t get infected or irritated with your hands.

Yeah, easier said than done.

After a few days, you’d also observe scabbing. No matter how tempting it is to pick on them, you must resist the urge. Let your eyebrows naturally shed off the skin because it will. Picking on the scabs may cause infection and could open up the wound again. Plus, it could also cause the pigment to come out.

5. Avoid The Sun

Remember that your eyebrows contain micro-wounds after the procedure. Exposing them to the sun can cause sunburn. They can get easily sunburned and irritated because of the tiny wounds.

The pigments shouldn’t be exposed to the sun for prolonged periods of time. That is because it can cause a reaction that fades them. When your eyebrows are fully healed, you can use spf to protect the microshading.

However, when the microshading is still fresh, it would be best to wear a hat, use an umbrella or stay indoors to avoid exposure to the sun.

Conclusion

You really don’t want your microshading to fade prematurely, so you want to care for it. This is particularly true during the healing process the first few weeks after the microshading treatment.

Take some basic precautions, and don’t get too creative with your eye makeup until your microshading has completely healed, and you’ll be good to go for a long time!
