A Kiss From the Coconut Palm
Unlike some tan accelerators that are designed to only be used when tanning at the beach under real sunshine, Ed Hardy’s Coconut Kisses is a slightly more versatile product.
Along with making it easier to tan under the sun, this tan accelerator was formulated so that you can tan more effectively in an artificial tanning bed, as well. See here for more.
The effects are pretty much the same whether you decide to tan in a bed or if you want to tan outdoors, with this solution bringing out a deep, rich color that looks like a realistic tan.
Just note that this lotion does not contain any sunscreen or sun protection.
A Natural Tan Color
Ed Hardy’s Coconut Kisses was specifically formulated so that it wouldn’t look artificial. In practice, this means that you’ll be able to avoid the strange hues you often see from other tanning oils, self-tanners, and spray tan solutions.
For example, your skin won’t turn orange or red when you use Ed Hardy’s Coconut Kisses.
While you likely won’t get an extremely deep mocha (you may need a tingle tanning lotion for that!), you’ll get a golden glow that is natural and beautiful.
Another great thing about this lotion is that you don’t need to use a tanning mitt to apply it unless you want to exfoliate your skin at the same time.
This is because Coconut Kisses was devised so that it doesn’t discolor your palms, even if you don’t end up washing your hands after you use it. However, we’d still recommend washing or at least rinsing your hands after using it so that you don’t stain any fabrics.
Note that if any fabric gets stained by Coconut Kisses, you’ll most likely be able to get the color out of it with a few vigorous washes and some bleach, even if the item was white.
A Gentle Feel
Unlike many of the other accelerators available, this product doesn’t feel greasy when you apply it to your skin, so you can feel comfortable with it coating you for a while.
The consistency of this product is a big plus. IT is relatively thick and viscous. It goes on pretty easily, doesn’t get everywhere, and can be evenly applied.
Another great thing is that this is an extremely versatile product, accomplishing more than just helping you tan. Along with improving the speed with which you can expect a tan to take hold, you’ll also likely appreciate the hydrating qualities of this formula.
Having hydrated skin makes it much easier for your tan to take hold in the first place, but it also ensures that your tan will stick around longer instead of wearing away after a short time.
Yet another secondary effect of this tan accelerator is that it has anti-aging properties, helping reduce the appearance of wrinkles in your skin thanks to its natural ingredients.
As the name suggests, this product is packed full of both coconut oil and coconut milk, both of which have rejuvenating properties.
Coconut Kisses will also leave you smelling great, unlike many tanning products that can be overwhelming for the olfactory system.
Ed Hardy made sure to make the fragrance relatively light but still noticeable, combining a main coconut smell with small hints of vanilla.
A unique feature of this product is that it’s designed to play nice with tattoos, and it helps rejuvenate your tats so that they fade away more slowly.
The tattoo color protector in it will ensure that your tattoos remain vivid, even if you’re not using any other products to maintain them.
Finally, this tan accelerator even features something known as the Bodyfit blend, which is designed to increase how firm your skin looks. It can also reduce the appearance of cellulite, ensuring that your skin will look its best while also getting a deeper tan than before.
The Downsides of Coconut Kisses
Of course, you’d probably struggle to find a cosmetic product without its imperfections, and that’s also the case for Coconut Kisses!
Luckily, most of the issues that come up with Coconut Kisses aren’t major ones. And they are more than made up for by the excellent performance of this tan accelerator.
One big issue that must be addressed is that the lotion has no sun protection. This means that you’ll have to apply sunscreen in tandem with the tanning lotion it whenever you use it. Other lotions, such as some in the Aussie Gold line, provide sunscreen and tanning lotion in one convenient package.
Another thing to consider is that this lotion needs to be applied very liberally, meaning that you won’t get too many uses out of a single bottle.
However, if you use this product frequently, you can also find four-packs of it available for a more reasonable price than buying them individually.
Counterfeiting and knock-offs are a common frustration among products listed on marketplaces like Amazon. Ed Hardy made things even more confusing by taking the Ed Hardy name off the label. This caused many, including us, to assume that the Coconut Kisses product sold on Amazon was in fact a knockoff, as it didn’t have the EH name.
This is not the case, however. It’s not a knock-off.
Ed Hardy chose to remove the EH name from the label and more prominently focus on the Coconut Kisses brand. As you can see on their own website, the bottle also does not contain the EH name.
Ed Hardy’s Coconut Kisses is one of the best tanning lotions around, and it deserves its popularity. It works well, produces a natural, glowing tan color, spreads easily, and smells great.
It doesn’t contain SPF, but you can apply that separately.
In the end, Coconut Kisses is an excellent choice for those looking for a natural tan!
