But how do you do it, exactly?

What Is a Nose Bump?

The nose bump appears on the bridge of the nose and curves outward, creating a small hill in the nose bone. This hump on the nasal bridge bone makes the nose look crooked and even larger than it is.

Some people will call it a hooked nose because of the image it gives of a bent nose.

This can be caused by injury where the bone in the nose bridge gets broken, and the bone heals in a bumpy and crooked way.

It can also be a feature of the nose that is caused by a dorsal hump which can be the result of ethnicity. This means it can be inherited from the parents, carried over to the children, and not caused by injury.

How To Contour Your Nose Bump

In this section, we will show you a few methods that can be used to change the nose’s appearance. Depending on your goals, you’ll want to choose one or potentially multiple techniques.

1. Make Your Nose Appear Thinner

In this method, you can draw lines along both sides of the nose, ensuring you already did your foundation. Starting at the brow bone, use an angled eyeshadow brush to lightly draw two lines along with the nose all the way down to the nostrils.

Make light lines at first. You can always fill it in later or make it a bit darker, depending on the effect you want. To make sure the placement is correct, you can start just below the corner of the eyebrows.

Go straight down the side of the nose and end the line close or at the inside edge of the nostril.

Do the same on both sides of the nose and ensure the lines are the same.

To get a natural look, make sure that you carefully round off the lines on both sides at the end of the nose. You can use a concealer, a darker foundation, or a bronzer to contour the nose for the best effect.

Use a highlighter that is at least two shades lighter than your skin to highlight the bridge of the nose.

Lightly apply a very thin line down the center of the nose to the ball and make sure the line is not too wide.

Apply the highlight line halfway down your nose if you have a wide bottom or nose tip.

2. Make Your Nose Appear Shorter

To create this effect, you can make the bottom of the nose darker than the rest of your skin. This will result in a shadow effect and make the nose appear a bit shorter than it really is.

This can be done using an eyeshadow or a matte bronzer so your nose does not shine.

Apply the bronzer or eyeshadow to the small curve between the two nostrils for the best effect.

Using a sponge or soft blender brush, you can blend the powder well to remove any shimmer from the skin. Another way to make the nose look shorter is to apply a highlighter to the bridge of the nose.

The highlight can be applied from the top and only halfway down the nose to create the best effect. This will create an illusion of a shorter nose and improve the overall aesthetics of the face.

You can also make the nose look shorter and thinner by applying shading on the tip of the nose and down the sides. Do not start too high up with the shading lines, or the nose will appear longer than what you want it to.

For the best result, you must start the contour lines at the tear ducts of your eyes and go down the sides.

3. Make Your Nose Appear Longer

To make the nose look longer, you should start the contour line right at the curve of the brow bone. Now apply shading to the contour line and work your way down to the tip of your nose.

With an angled brush, follow the curve of the brow bone down to the top of the nose and continue a straight line. This should be done down to the tip of the nose on both sides for a good effect.

Always start at the top and work your way down. You will get a better effect when it is darker at the top.

You should also apply a highlighter to the bridge of the nose from the top down to the tip.

To get the best result, you should extend the highlighted line upwards to the arch of the eyebrows.

4. Make It Look Straighter

To make your nose look straighter, you can use a powder about two shades darker than the tone of your skin. Apply the powder with an angled brush and draw two lines down the side of your nose.

At the bottom, you should connect the two lines between the nostrils at an angle, so it looks like an arrow. Now blend the harsh lines out using a soft shadow brush, focus on the outside lines and blend it fairly well.

Use a bright highlighter and draw a fine line between the center of the brows to the bridge. Finally, you can apply it to the sides near the nostrils and blend it well. This will highlight the high points of your nose and make it look straighter.
