How to Curl Your Lashes Using an Eyelash Curler

Always use high-quality eyelash curlers made of metal rather than rubber or plastic to achieve the best results.

Plastic or rubber curlers do not provide enough grip to curl eyelashes effectively. There are also heated eyelash curlers available if you want instant results and long-lasting curls. Just be aware of the downsides.

Step 1: Hold the eyelash curler onto your eye. Open your eyes wide and position the gripper of your eyelash curler on your lashes. Move the clamp to an open position.

Step 2:  With the curler positioned at the base of your lashes, gently close it. Hold it steadily in that position for about forty seconds while pulsing it slowly to help with the curl. Avoid making sudden jerks that can accidentally pull off your eyelashes.

For thick lashes, you can curl your lashes in sections.

For short extensions, curl only from the bottom of your lashes.

Always use high-quality eyelash curlers made of metal rather than rubber or plastic to achieve the best results.

Alternatively, you can opt for a smaller, half-lash curler to curl your lashes section by section. Repeat this with the rest of your lashes.

Note: you may see the blow-dry eyelash curler hack floating around social media. Do not do it, it is bad for your eyes!

How to Train Your Lashes to Curl Naturally

1. Curl Eyelashes Using Mascara

Mascara helps keep your lashes in place while giving them a thick, dark appearance. Avoid layering mascara because it can cause flaking, giving you an unappealing appearance.

For a long-lasting effect, your mascara should be waterproof, but note you shouldn’t be wearing waterproof mascara all the time, and you shouldn’t wear it with lash extensions.

Step 1: Start by applying mascara to your lashes. If you want to keep the color and thickness of your lashes, use lash gel instead of mascara.

Step 2: Push your lashes upward into a tight curl with a long thin instrument. Hold the position for at least thirty seconds to allow the mascara to dry while keeping the shape of the curl.

Step 3: Gently move your hair dryer up and down on your face, using the lowest heat setting. Hold it at least six inches away from your face to allow the mascara to dry and the curl to last longer. If you’re satisfied with the curl you’ve achieved, you can skip this step. Repeat this with the rest of your lashes.

Vaseline can also be used in place of gels and mascaras, but again, beware: it can remove lash extensions!

2. Curl Lashes Using a Warm Spoon

If you don’t have an eyelash curler at home, you can curl your lashes with a spoon.

Step 1: Soak a clear metallic spoon in warm water for a few minutes to absorb the heat.

Step 2: Take the spoon out of the water and dry it with a dry towel. Before using the spoon, use your fingertip to determine whether it is hot or cold.

Step 3: Place the spoon under your eyes to touch a large portion of your lashes. For ten seconds, gently press the eyelashes against the curved part of the spoon.

Repeat this with the rest of your lashes. The heat will naturally curl your lashes.

3. How Lashes Using Your Finger

Step 1: Apply mascara to your lashes and let it dry.

Step 2: Warm up your fingers. You can either run them under warm water for a few minutes or rub them together.

Step 3: Push your eyelashes up against the top of your eye with your warm finger. Maintain your position for at least thirty seconds.

Step 4: After your lashes have dried completely, apply two coats of mascara to set the curl.

Repeat this with the rest of your lashes.

Can You Curl Your Eyelashes Every Day?

Curling your lashes daily is the most effective way to shape your lashes. However, using vigorous techniques on your eyelashes daily can cause damage and pain.
