What To Do If Your Lash Lift Is Too Curly

Having to put up with fake-looking or unflattering eyelashes after a lash lift is demoralizing! That isn’t the result you were wanting when you decided to have the treatment done in the first place.

Now you have to keep loading on more and more mascara on the lifted lashes

But as we’ve said, you don’t have to panic, because there are options available to help you remedy the situation.

Let’s first determine why your lashes are so curly.

1. Expired Products

To start, you should find out why your lash lift ended up too curly, so that the same thing doesn’t happen to you again. The first thing to consider is that the products that were used during your treatment were past their expiration date.

This isn’t necessarily the fault of your lash artist, it could have been an oversight. But it is something that you should discuss with them before getting them to uncurl your lashes.

2. Chemicals Left On Too Long

Another reason why the result of your lash lift may be too curly is that the chemicals used were left on for too long.

In general, a treatment should last between 45 minutes and an hour. But if the salon was busy, your lash artist was distracted, or if you did your lash lift yourself at home, then the product may have been left on for longer than it was supposed to be on for.

If so, this could be the reason why your lashes are over-curled, and again this is something that you need to talk to your lash artist about before they work to take the awkward curves away from your lashes.

3. Poor Pad Placement

The final reason why your lash lift may be too curly is that the silicone pads weren’t placed in the correct position by your lash artist.

The silicone pads need to be placed as close to the waterline of your eyes as possible.

If not, then it can result in awkward curves appearing in your lashes.

The Quick Fix

As long as your lashes are in good condition, and you just want to get rid of the extra curl, then it is possible to fix this. You can go back to your original lash artist after waiting for at least 48 hours, and have a second lash lift done.

This process of ref-lifting your lashes will take about half the time that your first session did, and they shouldn’t be damaged during this process.

You could also do a quick fix at home, which will take a few days but will save you a visit to your lash artist. And the only thing you’ll need is a good cold pressed castor oil like .

Sky Organics Organic Castor Oil Eyelash Serum for Lashes & Brows, 100% Pure & Cold-Pressed USDA Certified Organic to Strengthen, Moisturize & Condition, 1 fl. Oz

This high-quality 100% cold-pressed and organic castor oil is a natural source of essential fatty acids that will not only help to nourish the roots and hair follicles of your lashes, but will also work to make them healthier and stronger, and are a great way to fix an over-curled lash lift.

Simply dip a Q-tip into the oil, and then work the oil into your lashes in a downward motion, obviously avoiding any contact with your eyeballs. Leave it on overnight while you sleep.

In the morning, you can remove any excess oil away with a damp cotton ball, before washing the rest of your face.

You should see the over-curling of your lashes mellow out after a few days of doing this process.

Note: we do recommend you speak with your lash tech before doing this, as the tech may recommend coming back in to have it fixed professionally. You paid all that money for a long-lasting lash lift, and it should have been done correctly in the first place.

If All Else Fails

If you’ve done one or both of the lash lift fix options above to remedy your over curly lashes, and they haven’t worked, then there is one other option available that will work.

You’ll need to do some research on the salons in your area that offers this particular treatment, though, because not all do this type of lash lift, and that’s a keratin lash lift.

Keratin lash lifts use a chemical solution that contains gentle amino acids of cysteine and cysteamine, which work with heat to curl your lashes.

It is safe to use on top of an overly curly lash lift and will smooth them out so that you can have the look you were wanting in the first instance.

The Eyes Have It

Now you know what to do if your lash lift is too curly. And luckily, you don’t even have to revisit the salon if you’re willing to wait a few days and simply use castor oil at home.

Doing this treatment at home will not only work to nourish and hydrate your eyelashes, but you won’t have to have another chemical process done at the salon. And you’ll be able to use the castor oil on your hair and even eyebrows too, to help them grow stronger and healthier.
