The LA Fitness Dress Code For Gym Members

Not all gym-goers are confident about how their body looks. That’s one of the big reasons why we decide to work out!

Concerned with their look, many of us may feel conscious about how we look as we are working out.

What clothes could you wear to fit in so that you don’t stand out as the newbie in a gym?

More importantly, what clothes do you have to wear so that you don’t get gawked at or kicked out of the gym?

LA Fitness doesn’t have a strict dress code, similar to Anytime Fitness and OrangeTheory. However, you should still use your common sense in selecting what to wear. Even though there is no expressed dress code, you shouldn’t be wearing a gown or your Haloween costume just because you can.

So what do you wear to the gym?

Well, you should wear workout clothes or gym clothes. Athleisure or shorts and a wicking t-shirt, basically.

Just remember when working out in a public gym like LA Fitness, you should also consider that other people can see you.

You may be very confident about your body but wearing gym attire that’s too revealing isn’t the best choice. You can stick to your revealing attire when you’re working out in private in your own home gym.

Gym clothes are usually stretchy and they could fit snugly but make sure they aren’t too tight. They should still be comfortable enough for you to move.

However, you should also avoid gym clothes that are too baggy or those that have loads of decorations and hanging bits. Those could easily get caught in a machine and could cause you to accidentally injure yourself.

Tips For Selecting Gym Clothes

LA Fitness doesn’t have a really strict dress code so you can be confident that what you would usually wear to other gyms can also be worn there.

If you’ve never worked out at a gym before, here are a few tips on selecting the gym clothes right for you.

Choose Your Fabric

One of the most important things you should be selecting is the type of fabric that you wear. Most of those that are selected are those that pull away sweat from your body.

Moisture-wicking fabrics are breathable and they attract the moisture away from your skin and let it evaporate quickly. That could help your body cool down better and prevent you from ending up soaking wet.

Some people choose to wear cotton fabrics. Those are also breathable. However, they aren’t moisture-wicking, so you can expect that your cotton shirts and shorts will soak up the sweat and feel heavy and sweat-stained as you exercise.

It is best to avoid fabrics that are not breathable such as those made with rubber or plastic. They don’t just prevent the sweat from evaporating but they also keep your body temperature high.

Make Sure It Fits Well

Once you’ve selected gym clothes with breathable fabric, the next thing you have to consider is how they fit when you wear them. Make sure that they are comfortable but aren’t too loose.

Try running — do your pants fall? And do you have to keep adjusting them periodically? If you do, then you might need to find another size or another style that will fit the type of exercises or workouts that you do.

Clothing that’s too baggy or loose could get in the way of your workout too. It could accidentally cover your face or get caught in the machines. Loose and comfortable can work, but make sure it isn’t too loose.

Conversely, don’t go too tight. Fabrics should be stretchable enough for you to do all the movements you need to do without being super-clingy. They shouldn’t be restrictive or else that could affect your form or you may also become too uncomfortable.

LA Fitness Shoe Policy

Trainers are the best shoes you can wear while working out. These closed-toe shoes help protect your feet and toes in case you accidentally bump them into the machines.

They also help with your grip so you don’t accidentally fall while trying to do your proper form while working out.

LA Fitness Employee Dress Code

If you plan to become an employee at LA Fitness, you should know that there is a dress code. Most locations will require their employees to wear all-black active pants, shirts, and shoes.

Occasionally, you may see some employees wearing khakis but they are mostly required to wear black.

An alternative you could also wear black pants with the LA Fitness shirt. If you don’t wear the shirt, you have to wear a black shirt that doesn’t have a large logo on it.

Can You Workout Shirtless At LA Fitness?

Want to flex your muscles while working out? Maybe you’re feeling too hot and you want to take off your shirt while working out. But is this allowed at LA Fitness?

Although LA Fitness doesn’t have a strict dress code, working out without being shirtless, whether you are a man or a woman wearing a sports bra, could be considered revealing. It is best to carefully select the gym clothes to wear.

If you are too hot, make sure you select the right type of fabric so it easily wicks away moisture and keeps you cool during your workout routine.
