Before you decide to get a membership at Planet Fitness, it is wise to have all your questions answered first. Maybe you’re wondering whether they have a pool, a luxurious sauna, or a basketball court (sadly no). You may also want to know the equipment and machines that they have available. All those are super helpful.

But what are you supposed to wear there? Does Planet Fitness Have a Dress Code?

Yes, PF has a dress code!

In this article, we’ll explain the Planet Fitness dress code. We will also give you ideas on what to wear at Planet Fitness for your work out.

What Is The Planet Fitness Dress Code?

Muscular Woman

It would be nice if you could just wear whatever you wanted to PF. After all, it is a place of no judgment.

However, that isn’t the case. Planet Fitness has a dress code that you should follow, as well as several other rules of conduct

Don’t worry, they aren’t super strict with the requirements. They won’t ask you to use specific brands or to use clothes from their shop alone, or anything like that.

Plus, the dress code is there for several important reasons:

  • Safety around the machines
  • Appropriateness
  • To avoid intimidation

Nothing Revealing or Intimidating

The dress code at Planet Fitness doesn’t allow clothing that is revealing, offensive or intimidating.

Avoiding such clothes will make the atmosphere at Planet Fitness more comfortable and welcoming for all members.

Keep it Safe

Additionally, clothing that could be considered safety hazards or those that could potentially damage the equipment is not allowed.

No flowy tops or anything like that!

This is to make sure that no injuries or accidents occur just because of what members are wearing.

Furthermore, you remember that Planet Fitness is trying to prevent potential damage to its equipment. This ensures that their members get to use high-quality exercise machines and gym equipment without risk.

You don’t want to be that person who gets their shirt caught in the rowing machine.

What To Wear To Planet Fitness

You are at Planet Fitness to work out and sweat! Wear workout clothes and athleisure wear. This is pretty much universal across gyms like OrangeTheory, as well.

These are specifically designed to be comfortable as you move. That is why they are stretchy.

You may choose to wear loose clothing, but make sure they aren’t too loose.

Wicking Clothing

Also, it is best to select clothing that wicks away moisture from your skin. This pulls the sweat away from your skin and allows it to quickly evaporate into the air so that you don’t feel drenched and wet throughout your workout.

They should also be made of breathable material so that your body feels more comfortable.

And of course, bring a towel with you so you can keep as dry as possible as you move throughout the gym.

Footwear

Socks and shoes that don’t show your toes are also required in the gym area.

If you come to Planet Fitness with your everyday clothes, you can change in the dressing room, shower, or locker area.

What Not To Wear At Planet Fitness

The Planet Fitness dress code is quite simple and easy to follow.

However, you should still double-check if your workout clothes and workout shoes pass their requirements.

For shoes, you have to make sure that they can’t see your toes. Flip-flops may seem to be great footwear for workouts because they feel airy.

However, they aren’t allowed at Planet Fitness for safety reasons.

Open-toe shoes could easily get caught in the exercise machines and cause an injury.

Furthermore, accidentally dropping weights, even the lightest ones, can harm your unprotected toes. You don’t want to trigger the lunk alarm, anyway!

As for your workout clothes, you should make sure that they fit comfortably but not too loose that they look baggy. These are just uncomfortable because you’d have to adjust them by pulling them often.

Get those with a good fit so you won’t have to worry about your clothes while working out.

On the other side, clothes that are too tight aren’t also advised. Although they may fit you very snugly, they could restrict your range of motion.

They may even rip with your stretches.

Modern athleisure clothing hits the perfect balance. Think yoga pants or shorts, and a reasonably-snug wicking shirt.

Jewelry looks nice and can add to your style. You don’t want to wear jewelry when working out. It is best to leave them at home or in a locked area.

The reason why jewelry is not allowed is that it can get caught in the machines.

Even wearing rings could also be uncomfortable while you lift weights.

Planet Fitness Dress Code For Employees

The members aren’t the only ones that should follow the dress code at Planet Fitness. They also have a dress code for their employees.

All the employees are required to wear the staff t-shirt. It should be paired with khaki or black pants.

They should also be wearing either black shoes or sneakers.

Women are also allowed to wear makeup and jewelry, but it should be kept to a minimum. Additionally, keeping the hair down is also allowed.

However, Planet Fitness still prefers the hair tied. This is especially true if they are cleaning.

Planet Fitness Dress Code for Guests

If you are a Black Card member, you can take advantage of the guest policy to invite a friend to work out with you for free! Just remember to give them the lowdown on the dress code, as they won’t be allowed in if they aren’t dressed appropriately for their workout.
